Bio-bubbly: Veuve Clicquot launches eco-packaging

Paris – French designer Cédric Ragot has created the industry’s first 100% re-usable, biodegradable and isothermal packaging for champagne house Veuve Clicquot – Naturally Clicquot.

Paris – French designer Cédric Ragot has created the industry’s first 100% re-usable, biodegradable and isothermal packaging for champagne house Veuve Clicquot – Naturally Clicquot.

The cutting-edge material, which not only biodegrades but also keeps the champagne chilled for up to two hours, is made from organic starches found in potatoes and paper. Ragot keeps the look clean, updating Clicquot’s tradition of staid elegance by mixing the classic gold label with a pod-like ivory casing that features a handle and side-seam opening.

A short film, directed by Julien Jourdain de Muizon,
explains the project’s origins and re-affirms Veuve Clicquot’s commitment to reducing its carbon footprint. ‘We wanted to innovate again and find a new packaging solution that was still eco-friendly, but elegant, useful and audacious,’ says the film.
