New York creative agency Breakfast has developed just that. Points is an intelligent signage system that is updated by the minute and points passers-by towards customised, hyperlocal information such as transport links, restaurants, sights and events.

Breakfast demonstrates what it calls ‘the most advanced directional sign on earth’ with a two-minute film. The Points three-pronged signpost replaces traditionally static boards with LED screens that change based on pre-programmed live streaming and user-requested, location-specific data.

Points builds on the interactive, user-sensitive appeal of mapping and local search Smartphone apps. The system could be installed at a range of locations – from roads to conferences, sporting events and music festivals.
