Geneva – Multidisciplinary artist Rolf Sachs has designed a limited-edition collection of furniture and lighting, now on show at at artgenève as part of Priveekollektie.
The Chemie No. 6 light is made using laboratory-style vessels affixed to a central support using clamps. Frosted funnels attached to exposed wires cast a directional light from the piece. Beakers, flasks and a ceramic ashtray are all mounted to the frame, making the lamp look like a piece of scientific equipment as well as an object.
Designers are increasingly referring to the aesthetics of scientific equipment and imagery, part of a trend LS:N Global has identified as Re-Enlightenment Rising. To learn more, book a place at our forthcoming Strange Days Trend Briefing.
