International – To mark its 80th anniversary, Lacoste has created 80 customisable polo shirt kits that will be on sale exclusively through its Facebook page. The limited-edition pieces were the inspiration of graphic designer and art director Peter Saville.
The first shirt includes a painting by numbers motif and comes with a kit that enables customers to paint their own design.
Further designs will be released over the next 12 months and will feature techniques such as colouring, sewing, embroidery, flocking and graffiti. Each month, 12 copies of one of the polo shirt kits will be available.
Brands are increasingly engaging with customers by encouraging them to be part of the creative process. For more on how do-it-yourself aesthetics are influencing design, see our DIY Design It Yourself design direction.
