Think again: Objects challenge ideas of furniture

13 : 11 : 2012 Milan : Marble : Desk

BerlinHelloMe, the design studio of Till Wiedeck, has created Critical Objects, a series of works that are somewhere between functional furniture and fine art.

The series is on display this month at Marsano Pop-Up Store in Berlin. Pieces are composed of a mixture of crude and refined materials, including wood, concrete, tubular steel and Calacatta marble.

The objects resemble common household pieces such as desks or tables, so that at first viewers perceive them as such. But a feeling of dissonance occurs almost immediately when the viewer realises the objects are not functional. He or she is then free to consider them as works of art.
