In your face: A good deal for check-in culture

14.08.2012 Advertising : Check-in : Check In

Nashville – Advertising agency Redpepper is trialling Facedeals, a new system that enables Facebook users to check in to venues using facial recognition.

Using cameras that will be installed in local businesses, Facedeals identifies customers’ faces when they pass by and immediately checks them in to that location on Facebook. Once a person has been identified, a customised coupon based on his or her Facebook ‘Like’ history is sent straight to their smartphone.

Facedeals is an efficient, yet slightly sinister, way to incentivise and streamline the check-in process. Should Facedeals become commonplace in businesses, consumers will no longer need to physically check in to locations.
