Rather than dispensing gum, the NFC Gumball Machine delivers digital content, including apps, films, songs and e-books, to the user’s phone through Near Field Communication (NFC) technology. To use the device consumers simply place a coin in the slot, turn the handle, place their phone next to the dispenser and await their mystery purchase.

This is a great example of using technology to bridge the gap between the physical and digital worlds. For more on creating a tactile experience and bringing the best of both worlds together, read our Digi-Tactile microtrend.
