Cape Town, South Africa – A vending machine has been installed in the streets of Cape Town that gives consumers iced tea in return for tweets.
Created by South African drinks brand BOS Ice Tea, the vending machine, called Bev, dispenses a free sample of its drinks whenever a consumer posts a message on Twitter containing the BOSTWEET4T hashtag.
There are 1.1m Twitter users in South Africa, producing nearly 500,000 tweets every month. By getting local Twitter users to post #BOSTWEET4T on to their page, BOS Ice Tea will develop a greater presence on the micro-blogging site.
