Hair-raising: Kitsch-Nitsch goes wild with YMS

21 : 05 : 2012 Colour : Slovenia : Colors

Slovenia – Design studio Kitsch-Nitsch has created an interior for the new YMS range of Slovenian hair salons by hairdressing chain MIC Styling. The interior features custom-made mirrors designed to make the space ‘as wild as possible’.

In contrast to the Minimal Sanctuaries LS:N Global reported on in our Beauty Futures report in 2011, the space uses vibrant, computer-generated graphics inspired by the texture of hair. The chaotic compositions of symbols and shapes appear to have been crafted by a computer, but arranged by a human.

This tongue-in-cheek style is reminiscent of the design cues described in our Digital Surrealism Toolkit
