San Francisco – A new app from photo-sharing website 1000 Memories lets users scan and digitally archive old photographic prints.
The Shoebox app makes use of the iPhone 4S’s 8-mexapixel camera to create high-quality scans of paper prints. Basic image editing software enables users to crop and straighten photographs, which can then be tagged and shared through Facebook, or added to people’s profiles on 1000 Memories.
The social networking site presents a new way for people to archive and share photographs of their family and friends – and was originally intended as a place to share images and memories of deceased.
With this new app, users are encouraged to create a digital history, a theme we explore further in our Self-Quants tribe.
