San Francisco – A new monthly service combines music recommendations with culinary creations.
The Turntable Kitchen blog was set up by Matthew and Kasey Hickey to combine their interests in music and food. As well as posting individual recipes and music reviews, the couple offer musical pairings in which they match a particular recipe with an album.
The new service, the Pairings Box, will provide subscribers with a box containing a limited-edition 7-inch vinyl single, hand-crafted mix tapes and ingredients that they can use to make the chosen recipe.
‘Since we launched Turntable Kitchen, we have wanted to find a way to extend the curated food and music recommendations we share on the site to something more tangible,’ says Matthew Hickey. ‘We’ve been working on developing recipes and menus that will be paired with limited-edition 7-inch vinyl singles from artists we love.’
LS:N Global has noted the rise of unexpected sensory pairings. For more examples, see our MiN Rituals Innovate feature, in which we explore how fragrance can be used to enhance sensory experiences.
