United States – Mixing together green gadgetry with play, a new family of action figures offers children the chance to learn about eco design and sustainability at an early age. Fastronauts, designed by Sara Paculdo, are three toy figures that generate their own energy through play: the more their owners roll, spin, crank or bike with them, the more their batteries charge.
The toys rely on built-in motion devices that generate energy as each toy is put into action. Each is fitted with a dynamo that helps to power its particular actions, such as moving, talking or lighting up. The only way to get more from them is to play with them more – giving kids a quick lesson in self-sufficient kinetic energy.
