Traveller's Check: Taking Bleisure on safari

Paris – For his debut menswear range at Louis Vuitton, Kim Jones took his inspiration from the African Maasai tribes in a travel-themed spring/summer 2012 collection.

Continuing the Bleisure trend that the luxury house has made its signature inspiration over the past few seasons, Jones says travel was his main theme when designing the range. ‘The thread is travel. It’s the DNA of the brand. But it’s not just for travel it’s for leisure as well,’ he says. Lightweight suits were interspersed with classic sports and sailing pieces or safari-themed outerwear. Bursts of bright red and purple colours appeared in the house signature Daimier check on scarves and leather holdalls.

Jones has previously designed his own collection and more recently held the position of creative director at Dunhill, where he was inspired by the archives and hand-crafted touches of the British luxury house.

LS:N Global expects he will further explore the rich Louis Vuitton travel heritage for inspiration. For more details, read our Bleisure macro trend.
