Milan – As the next Olympic Games approach, Calvin Klein’s trademark simple minimalism was given a sporty update for its spring/summer 2012 show at Milan Fashion Week.
Everything was not as it seemed, though, as Italo Zucchelli’s clever exploration of fabric technology included layers of laser-cut rubber over mesh for a sense of multiple dimensions and subtle futuristic effects.
The collection was given a summery feel with washes of lime green, aquamarine and indigo dyed over rubber to give a denim effect. Oversized trousers and shorts paired with slim-fit trousers referenced the 1990s, while creeper-style shoes in clean leather with rubber soles kept the look future-facing.
