New York – Architect and designer Rafael de Cárdenas of design firm Architecture at Large has produced his first collection of furniture.
The new pieces are on show at the Johnson Trading Gallery as part of New York’s International Contemporary Furniture Fair. Described as ‘a homage to Bruce Goff and Frank Lloyd Wright’, the bold collection features graduated neon and sharp, geometric forms. Cárdenas used the cube as a structural base for the collection, composing each piece through rotation or mirroring of the form.
The use of graduated neon and geometric forms is also apparent in Cárdenas’s recent interior design for Unknown Union.
