Paris – In a new advert for juice brand Tropicana, London production house Unit9 has teamed up with DDB Paris to create an illuminated billboard powered by oranges.
Around 2,500 oranges are attached to two slabs of wood fitted with thousands of zinc and copper spikes, and the citric acid reacts with the metals to generate an electrical current, forming a fruit-powered battery. This lights up a neon sign that reads ‘Energie Naturelle’.
LS:N Global has recently reported on a similar venture in our Anarconomy Decade report. This time Nespresso explored primitive, alternative energy resources by making a battery from coffee.
