London – London-based designers Studio Glithero have revived the artisan craft of cornice-making to create a unique collection of furniture.
Following the creation of their Running Mould installation at Z33, Belgium, the Anglo-Dutch pair have continued to use the process in which a zinc profile is run through wet plaster to create the cornices found in classical architecture. They used the same method to produce Pivot/Rail, a round table and workbench.
Glithero’s conceptual explorations of craft techniques have resulted in modern functional pieces of furniture that echo forgotten methods. LS:N Global will investigate further the resurgence in the use of traditional crafts by contemporary designers in our Revivalism macro-trend.
