London – As street food grows in popularity – with consumers redefining fast food and re-examining our urban foodscapes – a new cookbook aims to satisfy people’s appetite.
Thai Street Food, by chef and Thai food expert David Thompson, is a tome that not only documents key recipes, but also takes readers on a tour, evocatively captured by photographer Earl Carter, of the country’s markets, noodle bars, stir-fry stalls and steamed-pudding stands.
‘Often the finest food comes from the most humble operations,’ Thompson writes. Capturing the full flavour of these humble operations, his book serves up a lush portrait for consumers seeking an authentic street experience.
Thai Street Food (Conran Octopus, 2010) is available now.
