Italy – French duo Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec have designed a minimalist and delicate tableware collection, Ovale, for Italian brand Alessi.
Explaining their oval shape-based design, the Bouroullecs said: ‘There is a desire for simplicity.’ Despite being called Ovale, products in the collection take on a subtle asymmetric form, making the modest design expressive and playful.
The line includes white stoneware plates, cups and bowls, a stainless steel ice bucket and serving dishes, as well as water and wine glasses.
Reflecting a Leanomics approach to design, Ronan Bouroullec added: ‘[Ovale] speaks about everyday life, about breakfast, lunch, about getting everyone together for dinner.’
