Sundae service: Crowdsourcing bears fruit

19.07.2010 New Zealand : Auckland : Ice Cream

Auckland, New Zealand – An ice cream shop is crowdsourcing its organic fruit.

Giapo Gelato in New Zealand is encouraging organic fruit growers to sign up as suppliers to the store’s Giapo Certified Organic line.

Ice cream flavours include strawberry with balsamic vinegar and chili chocolate. To qualify, suppliers must guarantee that no herbicides or pesticides have been used within the growing area of the fruit. In return, Giapo gives away free ice cream and makes a payment based on the current market price of the fruit.
