California – Luv It is a new app that promotes consumer engagement by offering monetary rewards for time spent using the platform.

  • Users can sign up to the mobile shopping marketplace through their Facebook or Instagram accounts
  • Developed by Germán Ahumada Lomelín and Fernando Trueba

As consumers increasingly shop on their phones, the makers of Luv It hope the app will stand out from its competitors by creating a rewards scheme that incentivises use of the app and encourages brand loyalty. The community-based fashion marketplace lets users earn 2.5% cashback when making purchases or recommending products that subsequently results in a transaction by another user. The reward is automatically deposited into the user’s Paypal or bank account.

Users can save products by tapping on a heart symbol on the product page, and if they then decide to buy the item, the app’s integration with e-commerce platforms such as Shopify allows for a seamless check-out process.

The developers of the app, which is targeted at a female Millennial audience, have already worked with fashion bloggers and influencers, such as Victoria Van Ness and Christie Ferrari, who users can engage with through sponsored posts, thus enhancing an overall sense of community.

The Big Picture

While the number of consumers using their phones for on-the-go shopping has increased, e-commerce app developers have often found it difficult to attract repeat custom so they are offering rewards in a bid to promote loyalty.
