London – Google and the British Fashion Council (BFC) have launched a digital platform to attract new talent to the fashion industry.

  • The platform features more than 25 multimedia stories and exhibits, 140 videos and three virtual reality (VR) experiences
  • Paul Smith has designed a special-edition Google Cardboard device to accompany the launch of the platform

The British Fashion section of the Google Arts & Culture website highlights the contributions of British brands and designers to the fashion industry, and aims to educate and attract new talent.

With the tagline ‘immerse yourself in the creativity and heritage of British fashion’, the microsite offers a suite of multimedia stories and exhibits, including a VR experience that immerses viewers in fashion designer Manolo Blahnik’s London workshop and a zoomable high-resolution image of a dress from Alexander McQueen’s spring/summer 2017 collection.

‘We hope that this legacy project will not only inspire but also educate, enabling young people who want to get into fashion to see the breadth of individuals, skills and careers that make up this multifaceted industry,’ says Caroline Rush CBE, CEO of the BFC.
