Much like a complicated food intolerance, sensitive skin is in. ‘There is definitely a relationship between the increase in food intolerances and skin sensitivity,’ says Anna-Marie Solowij, co-founder of beauty retailer BeautyMART.

Aimed at hyper-sensitive skin caused by pollution and city life, brands such as Drunk Elephant and Chanel are removing harsh irritants from their formulas. According to Stylist magazine, sales of French pharmacy brands that specialise in treating delicate skin at online beauty store feelunique.com have recently risen by 152%.
