Bangkok – A new mall development in Thonglor aims to promote wholesome living and a sense of community.
Technology-focused mall concepts such as Siam Discovery are on the increase in Thailand, catering to the country’s growing middle class, but The Commons mall is taking a more holistic approach.
‘Our intention is to first build a community, then a mall,’ say the founders. ‘We want to be Thonglor’s backyard – a place where you can spend quality time in the neighbourhood and be closer to nature.’
Visitors to the open-air mall can take part in workshops, talks and music and community art projects, which are spread across the minimalist, multi-storey building.
In addition to its communal areas, the store features artisan cafés, restaurants, bars, a children’s play area and a yoga studio.
