Brno, Czech Republic – An exhibition at the Fait Gallery explored how sound can be used as a visual medium.
No matter where you are, there is normally some sort of background noise that your brain filters out. Artists Ewa Doroszenko and Jacek Doroszenko explored the idea that the act of listening only happens when you become conscious of a sound.
Their recent exhibition at the Fait Gallery in Brno combined Jacek’s auditory work with Ewa’s graphic prints that represented sound. The exhibition demonstrated how sound is often only understood through the object that makes the noise. ‘Listeners find themselves more concerned with things than with sounds, which do not exist as visible matter,’ say the duo.
Outside of music, sound is often overlooked as a medium of artistic expression. For more on how brands are creatively using sound, see our Soundscapes macrotrend.
