The BioDesign Studio enables visitors to experience what it is like to design and interact with the building blocks of life. The exhibition features five stations that break down complicated scientific concepts and empower users to play with DNA in a variety of ways, from coding the DNA pattern of a bear’s fur to creating new creatures out of computerised blocks. They can also get hands-on in the BioTinkering Lab, where they can perform experiments such as turning wood pulp into bricks using fungi.

‘The BioDesign Studio is an experience like no other,’ says Tim Ritchie, president and CEO of The Tech Museum of Innovation. ‘This is a space where visitors of all ages can gain a deep understanding of their own power to use synthetic biology to solve big problems, such as food security and climate change. We will be inspiring the next generation of biotechnology innovators.’
