New York – Ogilvy has developed a website that enables visitors to create a personalised font using their voice.

  • The font appears as an animated GIF and features vector art
  • The website is part of The Webby Awards’ The Internet Can’t Be Stopped project

The interactive TypeVoice website by Ogilvy New York is part of a campaign to mark the 20th annual Webby Awards, which celebrates digital creativity.

The site asks users to type a word or phrase and record themselves saying it. An algorithm then analyses the frequency, pitch and volume of their voice to create a customised typeface.

TypeVoice is one of 20 original designs created for the project by past winners such as Big Spaceship, Giphy and Tumblr, but Ogilvy’s website takes the concept a step further with its interactive element.

The Big Picture

As consumers become increasingly peripatetic, Post-language Typographies are emerging that enable them to communicate with each other across language barriers.
