UK – Healthcare group Bupa UK has recruited the band The Futureheads to help teach 20somethings about what is happening inside their bodies.

  • Bupa UK aims to encourage more young people to take one of its health assessments
  • Its latest campaign will run for eight weeks through a digital partnership with Mashable

Body as a Band, by agency WCRS London, uses the synchronicity of the band’s performers as an analogy for how the body’s organs work together. Bupa UK’s new campaign encourages a younger audience to take a health assessment with Bupa to gain a better understanding of how their daily habits affect their overall health.

After filling out a short questionnaire, comprising questions such as ‘how often do you exercise?’ and ‘how often do you drink alcohol?’, users can see how their body would perform if it were a band. Those that lead a less than healthy lifestyle are subjected to a disastrous performance of the band’s 2010 single Heartbeat Song in which the guitar strings break and the drums topple over.

The Big Picture

Young Millennials are delaying making big life decisions when it comes to health, finance and family. Initiatives such as MassMutual’s The Society of Grownups uses a fresh visual language and social events to teach young people about financial autonomy.
