As skincare brand GeneU is proving, there is a growing market for personalised skincare products. Choosing from an extensive range of natural oils, customers can create their own cosmetics to suit their specific needs or become a little more scientific by arranging a consultation with one of AlpStories’ specialists.

Using an electronic skin analyser, trained AlpStories staff can measure skin hydration, oil, elasticity and pigmentation, and recommend the perfect combination of ingredients to match. Customers can then look on as a purpose-built robot, chosen to avoid human error, makes the finished product ready to purchase.

The Big Picture: Our macrotrend The Optimised Self explores how science and technology have become enablers for a never-ending optimisation of the mind and body.
