City Gym: Manhattan pop-up embraces old-school athletics

08 : 05 : 2014 Re-valourised Sport : Todd Snyder : Heritage Brands

New York – Todd Snyder’s collaboration with heritage athletic brand Champion has been given a temporary home, a pop-up in Nolita that combines the sweat and steel of a men’s locker room with Snyder’s sophisticated touch.

The pop-up space, City Gym, which opened in November 2013, is all grit with its steel pipe rods and metal lockers that serve as visual merchandising displays for the collection of luxury sportswear basics. There are old-school paraphernalia mixed with the clothing and photographs on the wall of iconic sports figures such as Mohammed Ali. Alongside the Todd Snyder + Champion clothing is Synder’s own collection of menswear as well as Shinola bicycles and Leather Head sports goods. Everything on display is available for purchase.

The Re-valourised Sport pop-up harkens back to the days when sport was about athleticism and not celebrity, an ethos reflected in the clothes.
