Smooth sailing: Five-star hotel cruises down the Mekong

08 : 04 : 2014 Travel & Hospitality : Luxury Travel : Luxurians

Vietnam, Cambodia – Luxury cruises are a tried and tested business model, but entrepreneur Francesco Galli Zugaro injected a new sense of adventure and extravagance with his venture Aqua Expeditions, a series of luxury cruises down the Amazon, launched in 2008.

Now Aqua Expeditions is to take its luxury riverboats down the Mekong river, crossing between Vietnam and Cambodia in high comfort and style.

Zugaro’s riverboat cruises have all the amenities that one would expect of a large cruise ship, but on a more intimate scale, with only 20 suites on each boat. Key to the Aqua Expeditions experience is the floor-to-ceiling windows in each bedroom, which gives guests an ‘eye-level visual river cruise experience’, says Zugaro. Also included are a deck-top jacuzzi, a fitness centre, library, screening room and a menu by Michelin-starred chef David Thompson.

Aqua Expeditions combines adventure with luxury, giving Stage 5 Luxurians the comfort they expect, while exploring remote destinations of the world.
