Simply be-Cos: Swedish brand plans pop-up in Milan

04 : 04 : 2014 Milan : COS : Nendo

Milan – For the third year running, Cos will be hosting a pop-up shop during Salone Internazionale del Mobile. This year, it will be collaborating with world-renowned Japanese design studio – and LS:N Global favourite – Nendo.

The pairing between Nendo and Cos is a natural one, as both companies look to re-imagine and elevate basics and everyday objects to a higher level. In their installation, Nendo took inspiration from Cos’ signature piece, the white shirt, which will be displayed in a sculptural installation.

‘We took an unusual approach for the installation design: rather than designing the shirts or their hanger racks, we created sculptural pieces that rely on the interplay between shirts and frames,’ says Oki Sato, founder of Nendo. ‘The smartly ordered shirts are crisp, classic white until they fall inside the steel cube frames, at which point they take on colour as though the space itself has dyed them. This simple yet effective framing strengthens viewers’ awareness of the space.’

LS:N Global will be attending the Salone Internazionale del Mobile from 8 to 13 April. For more on the designers to see, read our Show Preview.
