Precision parquetry: Céline’s refined gallery store space

03 : 04 : 2014 Céline : Precious Precision : Luxury Consumer

London – French luxury fashion house Céline has opened a flagship store in Mayfair’s retail hotspot, Mount Street.

The 600-square metre store has a contemporary art gallery feel and was designed by the brand’s creative director Phoebe Philo. The space is split into three walls clad in grey Marmorino plaster built around a central oval area. The store retains the British designer’s signature minimalist aesthetic as well as the brand’s respect for fine craftsmanship and rare, raw materials.

Danish artist FOS, aka Thomas Poulsen, collaborated with Philo on the store design, adding to its modern yet classic mood with a range of store fixtures such as a central table, a day bed, brass overhead lighting and display vitrines.

The parquetry-style floor is a distinctive design feature and comprises 12 types and colours of marble, inlaid with semi-precious stones. The store décor represents the current trend for designers to use refined natural materials and reflects our recent Precious Precision design direction.
