Curious Elixirs was launched in September, after its goal of raising $30,000 on Kickstarter was surpassed by more than $6,000. Promoted under the tag ‘shaken, not slurred’ the brand uses purely organic, Fair Trade ingredients. They combine fruit, cold-pressed juices, herbs, roots, barks and botanicals, and have no added sugars, gluten, dairy or nuts.

In a collaboration in upstate New York between world-class bartenders, herbalists and food scientists, the company was created after realising the lack of quality alternatives to alcohol.

‘Our mission at Curious Elixirs is to redefine what it means to drink socially,’ the company’s mission statement reads. ‘The signature requirement isn’t that a drink is alcoholic, it’s that it’s special, delicious, good for you and good to drink with friends.’

The Big Picture

For many young people, alcohol no longer has as much of a social hold as it once did. As a result, brands are working towards producing non-alcoholic alternatives that are just as well considered. Find out more in our Party-totallers tribe.
