Mid East makeover: Lifestyle bible is redesigned

04.08.2010 Brownbook : Ahmed Bin Shabib : Rashid Bin Shabib

Dubai – One the Middle East’s leading lifestyle titles, Brownbook, has had its first facelift. And very nice it is too.

LS:N Global especially likes the rigid grid system, the vibrant documentary-style photography and the headline font whose flourishes nod towards Arabic brush script while complementing the serif body copy.

Brothers Rashid and Ahmed Bin Shabib founded the magazine in 2007. The redesign was carried out by Ken Leung, the founding art director of Monocle who now runs his own design consultancy, Modern Publicity.

Brownbook focuses on the Middle East and its people, wherever they may be. The latest issue has a report about the Tunisian-born founder of French clothing brand APC as well as articles about interiors in Lebanon, entrepreneurs in Tunisia, Iraq and Sudan, and artists from Tripoli, Casablanca and Abha in Saudi Arabia.
