Awash with choice: London Design Festival preview

London – Max Fraser, deputy director of the London Design Festival (LDF), believes this year’s festival is overflowing with diversity and possibility. With a plethora of choices and an event guide thicker than ever, the annual event will be bustling.

London – Max Fraser, deputy director of the London Design Festival (LDF), believes this year’s festival is overflowing with diversity and possibility. With a plethora of choices and an event guide thicker than ever, the annual event will be bustling.

The theme of the 2013 LDF is Design is Everywhere. ‘Design doesn’t just exist on a pedestal,’ says Fraser. ‘It permeates every level of our lives from the super mundane such as light switches, electricity sockets and street furniture that we take for granted, to the magnificent and spectacle pieces that are often brought to the fore during the festival.’

The festival explores all aspects of design. The Victoria and Albert Museum will be the main hub and other key design destinations and major shows will go on throughout the capital. As well as being a showcase for local and international designers, the festival will host a series of talks and a Global Design Forum to discuss the dilemmas facing contemporary design. ‘I hope it will be provocative, really pulling apart the design industry,’ says Fraser.

Watch out for our coverage of the 2013 London Design Festival, beginning 14 September. To learn more about the LDF, read our Inform with Max Fraser here.
