Inside out: Warehouse space has a festival feel

16 : 08 : 2013 Bar : Multi Functional Space : Camp And Furnace

Liverpool – Camp and Furnace is a warehouse space in Liverpool’s industrial Baltic Triangle that provides a year-round festival atmosphere for the city’s residents.

Started by three creative businesses in the area – architects FVMA, design agency Smiling Wolf and Elevator Studios – Camp and Furnace is a café, bar, foodie’s paradise and nightclub, among other things. With its perennial programme of events, the space has a festival feel and is inspired by how outdoor events bring people together. The multi-functional space, decorated with caravans, a wood-burning fire and bare bulbs, also embraces an outdoor aesthetic.

‘There is a return to the rural – creating a city village life if you like,’ manager Ian Richards tells LS:N Global. ‘We know that our customers respond to sensory cues, those that evoke nostalgic memories, transport them to a different place or simply conjure up a simpler lifestyle – a cabin feeling of delight and discovery.’

Camp and Furnace embraces LS:N Global’s Adventurism design direction, in which designers respond to consumers’ desire to reconnect with the outdoors and a spirit of adventure.
