Shabby chic: Habitat opens vintage outpost in Paris

11 : 07 : 2013 Paris : Vintage Design : Vintage Furniture

Paris – Now French-owned, iconic interiors retailer Habitat has chosen a Parisian flea market hotspot, for a new vintage-focused concept space.

The 400-square metre space is described as an ‘experimental vintage village’ in the middle of the famous St Ouen flea market near the Porte de Clignancourt Metro station. On sale are vintage pieces from the Habitat archives from the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s and 1990s.

Selected items from designers such as Jean Nouvel and Pierre Paulin are also available. And anyone who owns vintage Habitat items can sell them back to the store. In addition, a new L’Eclaireur store on the premises is dedicated to vintage fashion and accessories.

As retail brands face uncertain futures for physical spaces, they need to embrace more symbiotic, experiential opportunities. Consumers are increasingly choosing to visit destination and niche retailers that are popping up in unexpected places and feature a range of collaborative shopping options.
