Moscow – Entuziast is a new stylish hybrid café and workshop where motorcyclists can socialise, shop, drink artisanal Russian beers and even have their bikes repaired.
The venture follows a collaboration between Yuri Antonov, the art director behind well-known Moscow streetwear store Fott, and fellow motorbike lovers Dmitriy Pantyushin, Semyon Berchanskiy and Eldar Ka.
Entuziast’s décor is minimalist and utilitarian, with whitewashed brick walls, brushed steel lampshades and open shelves. Vintage motorcycling paraphernalia – think road signs, flags and racing kits – gives the space an air of retro kitsch. The café and workshop will also host DJs and sell vinyl records at weekends.
A growing retail sector is catering for New Bikers, a new breed of gentleman motorcyclist. Less aggressive anarchist and more aficionado, this group appreciates the conviviality of motorcycle clubs.
Other Russian start-ups are increasingly appropriating the old-fashioned charm of biker culture to appeal to this well-rounded male customer: stylish, masculine and active, with an unapologetic eye for design.
