Switzerland – Beertone, a new reference guide for beer, enables beer enthusiasts to discover different blends based on their colour.
An increasingly sophisticated beer market is emerging, inspired by connoisseurship and a move away from the association with pubs and drunks, as we reported in our Beer Connoisseurs microtrend.
The brainchild of advertising creatives Alexander Michelbach from Brazil and Daniel Eugster from Switzerland, Beertone shows the colour of a beer in the same way as a Pantone chart, together with information about the brewery, bottle design and alcohol content by volume. Initially funded by Kickstarter, Beertone sells for $40–60 (€30–45, £26–38). The guide contains information on more than 200 beers, and is a stylish and interesting way to reference and discover new beers.
