Bathing in luxury: Bathroom range plugs a gap

Stockholm – Iranian designers Mana Trio Flingdal and Mojdeh Hassani have shown their bathroom collection, A Dry Hamam, in the Greenhouse area of the Stockholm Furniture Fair.

Inspired by bathing rituals practised in traditional Persian hamams, or Persian baths, the collection includes Hoz, a geometric basin with a copper chain and lava stone plug. It also includes marble clothes hooks and bath stools made of lava stone, marble and plastic. Hand-painted mosaic tiles are stained with delicate pigmented droplets, and the gentle colour palette is inspired by skin tones.

‘The bathing ritual is spiritual in our culture,’ Hassani tells LS:N Global. ‘You go there as a family – it’s a ritual. In Iran almost all of the hamams are made from rich materials such as marble. Now new plastics are creating competition. This collection is designed to introduce something new to the European market, and to show that the traditional and the modern can be used together.’

This globally inspired opulent finish and subtle combination of humble and luxury materials is reminiscent of our Geo Luxe design direction from Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Milan in 2012.
