Miami – To coincide with Design Miami/, Louis Vuitton has unveiled Objets Nomades, a series of objects ‘intimately linked to the world of travel’, for the brand’s temporary store in the Miami Design District.
Designers drew inspiration from the brand’s origins as a 19th century trunk-maker to create objects for contemporary global voyagers. The 16-item collection includes objects by 11 designers including Nendo, Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby, and Constance Guisset.
Atelier Oï contributed a leather hammock and a folding stool. ‘We transposed historical malletier techniques, such as the use of rigid membrane wrapped in soft skin using modern materials,’ says Atelier Oï. ‘Thus, a light and thin leather satchel is able to transform into a seat in a single movement, allowing a pause during the journey.’
This cooperative approach is a great example of Revivalism working alongside Symbiotic Branding.
