Mexico City – The Unesco World Heritage-listed Centro Histórico in Mexico City is the location of hotel group Grupo Habita’s latest hotel Downtown Mexico.
The hotel, designed by interior designer Paul Roco and architectural firm Cherem Serrano, is situated within the 17th-century walls of a colonial palace. Rather than giving the hotel a complete makeover, the designers have preserved its existing decor but added an industrial edge.
Exposed concrete walls and thick metal railings are juxtaposed against the original tiling and ornate window frames, creating a blend of old and new.
