Baden, Switzerland – Industrial designer Andreas Bhend has created a design hack for Ikea stools and an instruction manual to build a new range of objects called Frosta.
Using components from the stools, and following instructions from a manual that playfully borrows illustrations from Ikea manuals, people can build pieces from the hacked series. The range comprises Frosta X, a shelving unit that attaches to a wall, Frosta Y, a three-legged table, and Frosta Z, a coat and hat stand.
This is a compelling way to provide instructions on augmenting Ikea stools. For more on how people are modifying, hacking and augmenting features of their homes, read our Hacked Home microtrend.
