US – US-based creative agency OKFocus has developed the Tug of Store social gaming site that lets users vote products from the online curating shop Svpply as cool or crap through competitive clicking.
After creating a username on entering the site, each user is represented by a thumb controlled by his or her mouse that points up or down depending on whether it is on the cool or crap side of the screen.
Purchasable products are then positioned in the centre of the screen and users enter a virtual tug of war to vote each product cool or crap. The winning side is the one that is clicked on the most.
Tug of Store is an example of our macrotrend Ubiquitous Gaming Culture, but the site’s use of basic graphics is also reminiscent of our Netstalgia macrotrend.
