Paris – French design duo Gaëlle Gabillet and Stéphane Villard of Studio GGSV have created Curiosity Object, a series of bell jar-like display cabinets that light up their contents with a hidden bulb.
The Curiosity Object comprises blown-glass domes on top of blackened oak bases. A bulb is concealed by a black tint in the glass surrounding the socket.
‘When you put something in it, it means you should protect it, as a metaphor of the many things we should protect on earth today: resources, water, species, culture and people,’ says Villard.
The Curiosity Object illustrates a change as people re-align what is important. For more on this shift, read our New Sublimity macrotrend. For the latest in new design, look out for LS:N Global’s forthcoming report on Milan Design Week.
