Milan – Eindhoven-based design collective BCXSY is heading to Spazio Rossana Orlandi at Milan Design Week to present Contrast, its latest furniture collection.
The collection is the third part of BCXSY’s Origin project, which explores a broad range of traditional craft techniques and re-appropriates them in a modern, minimal way. This time, the designers drew inspiration from the design processes commonly used by boat builders in the south of Ireland.
Techniques used to curve the outside of a boat have been used to create fruit bowls and interlocking wooden joints are transformed into stools and side tables.
LS:N Global is seeing more designers using traditional or long-forgotten skills and technologies during the creative process. BCXSY’s Contrast collection is a prime example of our Revivalism trend in practice.
