London – Design and entrepreneurial duo Charlie Crook and Ben Atkinson-Willes of Future Industries have created a micro-recycling unit that enables people to recycle plastics themselves.
The apparatus simplifies the recycling process, which usually happens behind closed doors in industrial facilities. The unit shreds, washes and moulds the plastic into shapes ready to be trimmed for re-use.
According to Future Industries director Charlie Crook, the project aims ‘to give power to the consumer and invites them to participate in the manufacturing process, providing an experience that is at once simple and meaningful’.
