London, New York – My favourite Seeds on the food sector feature an innovative pop-up restaurant, a food delivery service that employed a community of local chefs and an Asia-inspired night market in New York.
Ridley’s restaurant was a temporary pop-up space in Ridley’s Market in east London. Chefs devised menus using only produce from the market, and allowed customers to exchange produce from the market for meals. I liked the way it brought the local community together.
The Housebites takeaway service connects customers to local chefs who cook fresh meals for online orders and deliver them in person. I like the way Housebites adds a personal touch to the takeaway service.
The Brooklyn Night Bazaar created an immersive environment that showcased local art, and independent vendors, musicians, breweries and chefs. The market ran between 15 and 17 December and created a convivial atmosphere for the growing number of people who are responding to food-related events.
Every day from 22 December until the end of the year, the LS:N Global team is choosing its favourite stories from 2011. We will resume normal service on 3 January 2012.
