Doha, Qatar – Design students from Virginia Commonwealth University, Qatar have collaborated with Italian design and research centre Fabrica and glassmaker Massimo Lunardon to create a glassware exhibition that celebrates Middle Eastern and western influences.
The collection, which will feature in the exhibition Shared Glass, is the outcome of group research that brings together glass objects from countries including Lebanon, Italy, Egypt and France to create juxtaposing new forms and functions that celebrate community and culture.
Designers worked closely together throughout the process to communicate with their European colleagues and discuss art, history, food and culture.
A number of designers exhibited glass vessels that mimic the aesthetics of scientific equipment. For more information, see our review in the Inspire section.
